Yoga means unification, which is first the unity of all the dualities and contraries that constitute the energies of life. Yoga philosophy teaches us to understand and transcend duality, but this rests upon harmonizing the dualities within us in a transformative state of balance.
Yoga is a spiritual practice, passed down from yogis who devoted their lives to spiritual pursuits. Yoga uses movement or postures to revitalize the nervous system, circulation, and the flow of energy which may positively affect the personal energy field.
Yoga also emphasizes the breath and uses the breath to move energy in and out from the body during the movements.
Yoga is not just about stretching the mind and body; it also offers the connection of mind/body/spirit on a deep spiritual level, grounding one to the Earth and increasing the flow of energy throughout the body and being. Yoga and energy healing both strive for harmony and balance, clarity of thought and intention, and a deeper understanding of the higher self.
