Mind/Body/Spirit Balance – Meditation

Meditation is a process that leads to a state of consciousness that brings serenity, clarity, and bliss. There are different forms of meditation such as Zen Meditation, Vispassana Meditation, Mindfulness Meditation, Yoga Meditation and Transcendental Meditation.

Different meditation techniques lead to a resting of the mind and attaining a state of consciousness where the mind is clear, relaxed and focused - an inner state that is still. When the mind is still, the meditation experience deepens - resting the mind in silence and space, allows it time to recover and rejuvenate.


Meditation is often viewed as a way to relax. But it's also a very precise strategy for maintaining health. Research shows that Transcendental Meditation improves bodily functioning - the heart rate slows, blood pressure normalizes, the respiration slows and brain functioning becomes more coherent. Meditation can also help relieve depression and pain, and support better quality sleep.

Meditation is used in schools to help children become more relaxed - learning improves and violence is reduced. The benefits of daily meditation can lead to a healthier life.
